The Medium Healer for Depression (Part 1)

Лечителят Медиум за депресията (част 1)

When people talk about depression, most people think they understand what it means. It is often assumed that a depressed person feels hopeless, worthless, or has unexplained guilt without having done anything wrong. Even activities that they once enjoyed may seem meaningless. Many describe feeling lost even though they are in a place or situation that should be right for them.

Depression can manifest itself in the most intimate aspects of life. A person can be in the company of a beloved partner, someone they sincerely want to be with, and yet feel an inner tension, a sense that they should be somewhere else. Many people feel like they are missing something deeply meaningful in their lives, but they cannot name exactly what.

One of the most painful aspects of depression is the lack of relief. The more effort one puts into trying to cope—following advice from loved ones, trying different methods and recommendations—the stronger the feeling of failure can build up. This internal struggle increases the severity of depression. When a person tries everything that has been suggested to them and still does not feel any change, they may begin to believe that they are disappointing the people who support them. Sometimes they even feel like they are disappointing the professionals they have turned to for help.

The burden is also amplified by the very concept of “depression.” On the one hand, there is the real experience of the condition; on the other, the feeling of a label that does not reflect a physically measurable diagnosis. Depression has no visible wound, no laboratory indicator that can unambiguously reveal it. This makes it mysterious, devoid of clarity, which further undermines the person’s inner resilience.

It is this mystery, a combination of feelings of doom, frustration, fear, guilt, and shame, that merges into a common experience that society has come to call by a single word: depression. This term describes only the surface of something much deeper, affecting the core of human emotion and vitality.

More than a state of mind

Like anxiety, depression manifests itself differently in each person. In everyday language, the word “depressed” is often used casually to describe a momentary dip in mood. Many people experience mild forms of depression at certain times in their lives—experiences that are difficult in themselves but are fundamentally different from true clinical depression. At the other end of the spectrum are people who experience deep, corrosive emotional pain. This wide range of manifestations is one reason why depression remains so misunderstood by modern healthcare.

Depression is not simply a state of mind that someone deliberately keeps themselves in. Yet misconceptions persist. For many people, depression is still seen as an emotional state that can be worked out through willpower or reflection—or, even more burdensomely, as something that is used to influence those around them. This misconception makes life even more difficult for someone with depression because it diminishes the actual reality of the experience. When depression is not accompanied by other mental health conditions, it is often taken less seriously, even if the depression itself is severe.

People who suffer from depression have no doubt about its presence. They recognize it immediately. While its causes can be confusing and its way of appearing difficult to explain, the feeling itself is clear and unambiguous. Depression is an experience that a person knows inside, whether or not they can articulate it.

The lack of understanding in society is also reflected in the conflicting messages that circulate on the subject. On the one hand, there is often a reluctance to accept depression as a serious health problem. On the other hand, there is a tendency to prescribe antidepressants for a variety of symptoms, even when a person is not actually suffering from depression. This inconsistency creates confusion and leaves people on their own in their attempts to find relief.

For many people with depression, the drive to improve can become a desperate process. When depression is mild, a person may actively struggle—like a fish that has just been taken out of water and is desperately trying to get back in. In more severe depression, this vitality diminishes. The struggle is replaced by exhaustion, like a fish already lying on the dock—out of breath, out of strength, out of desire.

Depression often feels like something foreign has entered a person’s life—something that does not belong to their true self. No one chooses to be depressed, just as no one chooses to be physically ill. It feels like an intruder has entered the body and taken control, altering the person’s ability to feel. It creates emotional numbness, a loss of control, and a feeling of being separated from oneself.

It is not a pleasant or enlightening “out-of-body feeling.” It is an experience steeped in fear, loss, confusion, and sometimes self-blame. Depression does not reflect a person’s true nature, but rather a reflection of processes in the brain and body that require understanding, support, and compassion.

Unspeakable knowledge

According to the Medium Healer, the most important thing to understand about depression is that something takes up residence in a person's mind that doesn't belong there. Something interferes with the normal functioning of the brain, consciousness, subconsciousness, and mind.

When the cause of depression is partially identifiable—such as a severe disappointment, a sudden loss, or a dramatic life change—then that experience takes up space in the mind. It can seem overwhelming and lead to a serious, prolonged state of depression.

However, there is also depression that has no visible origin. It creeps in quietly, settles deep down, and gradually takes over the person, without him being able to point to any event, thought, or memory that could justify it. In these cases, the Medium Healer describes the presence of an external factor – something that has no place in the body, but still lives in it, inhabits the brain, and influences the emotional state.

The person doesn't know that something foreign has entered their brain, much less what it is. This leads to emotional sabotage that remains unexplained and deeply discouraging.

If depression begins immediately after exposure to pollution or toxic exposure, and a person quickly makes the connection between the two, this can become a starting point for understanding and coping. The fact that someone has an explanation, even a hypothetical one, often provides strength in the recovery process. However, this rarely happens.

And even when there is initial suspicion of a link between toxic exposure and subsequent depression, over time that memory fades. The weight of the depression itself swallows up the experiences, the memory blurs, and the person begins to doubt themselves, their feelings, and their own judgment.

According to the Medium Healer, depression is not a chemical imbalance in the brain – despite widespread medical claims. It is not a rejection of life, it is not laziness, nor a form of evasion of responsibilities. It is not a personal weakness, although society often suggests such ideas.

People suffering from depression describe a state of emotional numbness – a lack of feeling, a lack of connection to the outside world, an indifference to the future, even to their own survival. This does not make them cruel or callous. On the contrary, the Medium Healer points out that these people possess deep sensitivity, but are blocked by something that dulls their natural ability to feel and respond.
